From the Bottom of
by dan ankers
From the bottom of my moss covered mind
there is a lever if you’re clever enough to find
or persistent with a bit of dumb luck and inspiration
either way there lies the very thing in question
Yank it swiftly and the results will be nifty
It catches a tad so you have gotta really try
but when the job is done, will be a thing to catch your eye
I come undone
truth is I simply love the feeling
Long ago my natural state was this, so wild and so freewheeling
But long since then I found another orientation
With wisdom came a different kind of peace-keeping inclination
I throw the apple cart, though, still whenever I can
I tell the king he’s dead and every righteous man
Soon hears the truth we all see but few can
for sake of responsibility, inform that prideful man
His smug approval of his own shady ongoings
is self approved
And he smugly senses then that every fool is fooled
He must be so clever then
The cleverest of all dudes.
So please come pull my lever
Dare and let me out
And for a little while
the fools will hear me shout
Then I’ll be stuffed back in the cookie cutter’s mouth
With such sweet madness
and yes abandon
I support my habit poorly
But it must be done
from time to time
I can’t abort it
So get me goin’
Must be done
Until I drop
With sweet abandon
and great sadness
Recycled madness
Recycled madness
And with great sadness
Recycled madness
Repeated sadness
