York
By dan ankers
Discarded, overlooked, denied
Disgraced
And thrown to the side
So many of this city’s faces have lost all sense of pride
And really it’s not so bad, to have lost or never to never have had
Because while it makes them rather grumpy at times
At least they aren’t out walking and wearing
Selfish badges
I mean yes, they are out to get their own
But at least they’re not climbing ladders to get to nowhere
And in the meanwhile, pushing others down
No, they just want to get to their home
Maybe they’re tired from work
Or maybe they just want to hide in a beer or two and drown
Until the next day…
Do it all over again
I see plenty of children,
Smiling faces
They remind me of the sun
If I could do one last thing for my city
It would be to remind them all
That They
And It
are Oh So Pretty
