Unwilling

Unwilling
by dan ankers

For some, an inborn trait
For me, it came real late
For others, seems it never comes at all

But you cannot predict the time
or the place
You cannot tell
Only see
 The Unwillingness develop
On the face
Of the helpless,
being unfairly pressed upon

And when it comes
It rages like a levee breaking
A sight to behold
And a blessing for those undertaking

When Unwillingness comes
It storms overtop the sturdy embankments
Erected by the master craftsmen
It doesn’t give a shit about them

When the Unwillingness to take abuse
is firm
No ramparts upon the earth
will turn
Aside the rushing tide
of fury
that never will subside
Again

There is no telling what the time
or the season
Only stand away
when demons
Long detained through force of will
are released
There is no type of wall you can erect
To again chain up this wild, angry
Beast
