The death of poetry

The death of poetry
by dan ankers

I forgive you for all the shit you put me through
and in the end I would highly recommend you to someone new
that was all in the past
though it felt like my world was shards of broken glass
at that time

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder
but your lack of presence in my life has made you blonder
and your brother
and your friends
and your mother…
I hope all of them are doing fine

We were never meant to be
When we first kissed at the beach
and
It would have been a wonderful story
a classic case of vacation glory
but that story didn’t end
it carried on

And when you place two folks in a box
and when you fasten it with locks
sometimes the thing you get just makes you die
and you’re never quite the same
as when you learned that pretty name
and it’s awful
who’s to blame for wasted time
