Brand New Heroes

The heroes of our distinctive pasts
were often born out of race
and the morals and habits of bygone times;
places where certain peoples collected en masse
and rose to prominences;

Alas a shining new era of humankind is upon us
one where all the earth may finally unite
beneath a single tree of blazing wisdom
One not beholden to any particular group
or to the color of one single race’s shade of hide
I exhort to you
that we choose some brand new champions
ones which do not exclude or polarize
never forgetting the great figures of our respective histories
but electing fresh and living souls
to usher in some brighter climes
New people are being born in forever droves
and
new heroes spawn betwixt us
right before our very eyes
So, I say we start extolling
their many virtues
and let our pasts be our pasts
and
Let, from these flocks
our wonderful future
and it’s simplistic rules
ARISE
I am not so naive a man
as to think this process
will be simple
but a worthy one it is;
as we all must vie
To make sure that smiles of children
and freedoms and prosperity to all
become the standards
of our times
And to never forget
the road that’s gone behind
