When I was younger
by dan ankers
When I was younger
an infant in worldly time
I was so sure
so full of pride
I saw myself
and my opinions
as set in stone
Of great dominion
overall
though my precocious view
was very small
Even as, time after time
I was proved wrong
Evidence was brushed aside
like snowflakes on my naive, earthen visor
I was like a youthful miser
Now I’m older
and what I’ve seen
is enough to make
my consciousness
green
Fertile
and
Youthful again
Only this time
I let them in
Those distant facts
too hard to reach
I work for them
so I can teach
my simple self
to live again
Every single day
an
Always renewed;
Always Astonished
Eternal dude
