People Who Care

People Who Care
by dan ankers

I felt so strained as I walked along the street today
The sidewalk though paved
felt as if it was a world away
In the cold bleakness
There were women/men though all the same
If I am special
I am still an urchin
unworthy
Though hooded, cloaked
arched to one side
I stride
that tide
drug dealers
old ties
old friends
some lose
who wins?
I look to me for an answer
I found none.
I ate my breakfast
and downed a couple sleeping pills
and I was
done
