Intrinsic
by Dan Ankers
Not to be diminished by a parcel
or a smidgen, quantifiable in some form
or another
The host of thoughts I question amass
into a one solid, shaded being
of an incalculable strength
And if you do not understand
then please read on
or don’t
It doesn’t matter
Each person’s burden is their
own
What wakes me
What plagues me at my pillow
What finds me even when
I should be aglow with a softer light
Which has been the story
since my birth, I believe
No, I am certain
(Some babies swim in a persistent
pool of agitation)
Which is of the same class and family
but in its own identity much more distinct
and yet identical, in essence
as what plagues most inquiring
minds
of the obsessive sort
The question
THE question
intrinsic to my own
