Release

Release
by dan ankers

Time crawls by when you’re young, lonely and sad
And your worst forever dreams
are to lose everything that you’ve had
and the moon
and the sun
seem like beacons touting destiny
but laugh out loud at your attempts
to make anything meaningful happen

And you wait for a curtain to draw
to reveal it all
to you
but you can’t see
you can’t
you’re only alone
and you stew

Clouds whisper and burst
they do
though slowly
if you watch
and if you listen to them sing
quietly
and if you recite this into your pillow
your will to change shall grow
undeniably
And a long lonely night is this world
for our hero
the one
whose muffled cries
rage
with undisclosed passion
wisdom
and truth

...though always still waiting on that curtain to draw...
you may have missed them
but no.
not now.
this world, it IS them
and that curtain was a ruse
and the past it was a game
and this world is revealed
to be contained
within a single droplet of one single, tiny day

Now is the time
as the marchers begin to ascend
and swell in their uncontrollable rows
to unforeseen heights
for the hero to show
what everyone has already known, deep down inside;
that this world is alright
And their sin, it twas only a blight
a mere trick of the lighting
of an unspeakable
fright

Moreover hereafter
this world shall be filled with laughter
And we shall know, it was never evil or good that we were after
or even a glorious place to lay our heads and die
only to rise again
No.

The only thing that’s ever mattered,
was how we treated our kin
and our kin IS and WAS everybody
in the WORLD
Now, let’s
BEGIN

For if fear drives us
then it denies us
and we are beasts within caves;
willing slaves
to the torrid and terrifying whims
of the darkness
and the shadows
and the winds

That is how it is,
and thus it has always been.
