Unfinished
by dan ankers
A half painted boat on an easel
the blue of the water unfinished
and even though he hurried away
the image still carries on; undiminished
A kitchen with pots on its rack
though its sink is filled with the slack of the previous night
Mice feel unworthy to crawl
‘cross the floor with the flickering light
touching such crumbs with their tongues
as to fill with the odor their lungs
and are sure to accept
that their senses
have just recognized
wasted rations
WITH SUCH PASSIONS!
as to lurch onward, one o’er the other
Each rodent gets helped by his brother
for the cleansing in this kitchen is unfinished
though that does not mean, the meal was diminished!
no! not by one!
Though light does provide by the sun
some day it will all come undone
and the earth will be no more
and the light from the sun
will be gone
That still doesn’t mean it’s diminished
no, in fact not one bit it’s amazing
as the the life of the sun is unfinished
let us all just look
up
and enjoy
while it’s blazing!
